Anal sac gland carcinoma in a cat.
A perianal mass in a 15-year-old domestic shorthair cat with a history of a firm, painful swelling in the left ventrolateral perianal region was surgically excised and submitted for light microscopic evaluation. Histologically, this was a poorly demarcated, unencapsulated, multilobulated neoplasm that invaded surrounding perirectal skeletal muscle bundles. Lobules were composed of sheets and ac...
متن کاملA cat with suspected laryngeal metastasis with mucosal irregularity resulting from apocrine/salivary gland adenocarcinoma in the head
A 16-year-old castrated male mongrel cat presented with swelling under the left pinna and a 3 -month history of voice change. Laryngeal endoscopy revealed circumferential oedema around the arytenoid cartilages and hypersecretion of saliva. Histopathological examination of the mass around the left ear canal was considered the primary lesion that originated from cutaneous apocrine adenocarcinoma ...
متن کاملAnal Sac Adenocarcinoma; A Hidden Cancer
Tumours of the perianal region occur frequently in dogs (Bennett et al. 2002), with benign adenomas comprising 5896% of tumours at this site (Turek & Withrow 2013). In some cases these may transform to become malignant perianal adenocarcinomas, and these need to be distinguished from adenocarcinomas which derive from the apocrine secretory epithelium within the wall of the anal sacs (Polton & B...
متن کاملUtility of Computed Tomography versus Abdominal Ultrasound Examination to Identify Iliosacral Lymphadenomegaly in Dogs with Apocrine Gland Adenocarcinoma of the Anal Sac
BACKGROUND Apocrine gland adenocarcinoma of the anal sac (AGAAS) is associated with high rates of iliosacral lymph node metastasis, which may influence treatment and prognosis. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) recently has been shown to be more sensitive than abdominal ultrasound examination (AUS) in affected patients. OBJECTIVE To compare the rate of detection of iliosacral lymphadenomegaly ...

CASE REPORT A 74-year-old male presented with an orbital tumor located in the left lacrimal fossa. Ocular examination showed hypotropia, exophthalmos and palpebral ptosis.
